Malletwalk

Malletwalk is a 10-minute live electroacoustic work for solo performer Rick Sacks. The name Malletwalk is derived from two aspects that are central to the experience and production of the work.  The first is the MalletKAT, an electronic percussion instrument which the solo performer of the work, Rick Sacks, uses to trigger all of the electroacoustic components of the piece with Kenaxis software.  The second is a soundwalk, which is central to the collection of sounds used for source material in the work, and also, is an optional performance activity that may occur prior to the concert performance. Malletwalk was commissioned by Rick Sacks with funding from the Ontario Arts Council.  It was premiered in 2009 by Arraymusic in Toronto.
